It is my passion to bring my guests closer to the unique and magical winter landscape which captivated me in 2014. To bring you closer to my passion I would like to briefly introduce myself to you.

I am a family person with a great sense for interior design and creativity. My special gift in life is to pamper people and to be there for them. Inspired by my guests, helpers from all over the world and my love for cooking and baking I create new menus and little treats for you everyday.

I was always very fond of travelling however; my affection from moving around has developed into a different passion once I started my B&B. There is something wonderful about being able to offer my guests a comfortable place to stay and help them explore and discover the surrounding areas. I got my wish of one day owning a little café two times over when I opened up the B&B. It is my wish to be able to offer my guests a place of relaxation, enjoyment and well-being!

Sincerely, Kerstin

Our B & B is located in the far north, 170 km north of the polar circle, near the vibrant small town of Levi in Finnish Lapland.

Our location offers you the opportunity to experience solitude and the polar lights far away from the everyday hectic without having to completely forego a shopping trip or a new culinary experience.

It all came about when in the winter of 2014 my son and his friend Cosima travelled through Scandinavia, By summer 2015 Cosima and I created the Jokimaja. We realized our dream of a B&B and a Café within only three months.

During a short journey in summer 2015 to Finnish Lapland we discovered, due to a fortunate coincidence this beautiful old ferry house. Only 2 months later, in November 2015, our Jokimaja team consisting of Cosima, Malte and myself with two cars and a trailer started off in Finnish Lapland. After 3500 km we arrived at our farm. There was much to do, we had to reconstruct and renovate our cozy little Butik-Café. It was all worth it as we welcomed our first guests in December 2015.

As we had a wonderful and successful first season it was not a difficult decision to open up Jokimaja for a second season. I am running it now without Cosima but have always been supported by various, fantastic helpers from all over the world throughout to whom I would like to express my special thanks.

We have now started to take the first bookings for the next season and would be delighted to welcome you to the winter season 2018/2019.

I look forward to seeing you all soon

There are many different ways travelling to the far north. One way is flying directly to Kittilä and from there renting a car or using a taxi or our shuttle service (50 €).
You can also fly to Helsinki and travell further by night train- or bus through Rovaniemi to Levi.
The third option is flying to Rovaniemi and renting there a car at the airport or taking the bus to Kittilä or Levi.
There is no official public transport directly to the B&B. Twice a day you might able to join the school bus from Köngäs to Levi or back. We highly recommend to travel by rental car.

  • "Okay, first of all the decorations are fabulous. It's got every bit of cabin feel and warmth you would expect. They did such a marvelous job with this place. It's also great to be next to their cafe, because the nights were long, so caffeine was a big help! Cosima went the extra mile to try and make sure your stay in Lapland was as fun and unique as possible. They have many activities available so you don't always have to wake up and go to Levi to try and find fun.
There's plenty at the bnb to be had! The wood fired sauna was great, too. It's just a few doors and you can take a snow bath before retreating into the hot Sauna. They also have an electric one in the bnb, so technically you don't have to go outside if you don't want to. (But you should!) I can't wait until I am back up there, it's a great area and a cozy bed at night. They also make very, very good meals there. breakfast and dinner were always delicious. Definitely was a fun place to spend a few days if you can!"
